How I work
I draw on three approaches to help you build skills and understanding.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Notices the thoughts and self-talk that keep you stuck, and builds practical skills to change them.
ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Builds the flexibility to make room for difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, so you can act on what you value most.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic Therapy
Looks at how your history and relationships shape the patterns you repeat today.
What I believe about therapy
Focus on what's next
You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. How you move forward matters more than putting a bow on your past. We'll explore your history, but stay grounded in the present.
Change the story
How you talk to yourself matters. If your inner voice is harsher than anything you'd say to a friend, that's worth working on.
Be kind to yourself
Kindness isn't the same as going easy. Sometimes it means being firm with yourself and following through. It's likely time to stop punishing yourself for past mistakes and take steps toward your values.
You hold the key
You'll spend 1 out of 168 hours a week in my office. Improvement takes effort in therapy and outside of it.
If you'd like to talk, I'd be glad to hear from you.
